Kobold NMT Magnetostrictive Level Meter
The NMT Series consists of a magnetostrictive sensor in the measuring tube and an integral, four-wire transmitter with the connection box. This meter utilizes the principle of echo time measurement. The current pulses are transmitted through the wire and produce an annular magnetic field around the wire. The wire is then charged axially by magnets fitted internally to the float. A torsional impulse is generated when the magnetic fields align in which it spreads with ultrasonic speed in both directions. The NMT Series incorporated electronics converts the time signal to a standard 4-20 mA analog signal.
